Our Robotics team have been hard at work over the last fortnight, giving up every lunch time to build their own Clawbot. After carefully following the instructions to assemble it, they then spent some time learning how to move and control it accurately.
Today, they attended their first event, held at the Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation (SASMI) in Sunderland. First, they learnt how to use the Modkit software to programme their robot to move autonomously following given instructions. Then, they were given a series of 5 challenges involving programming and driving their Clawbot around different obstacle courses.
The children had a fantastic day and threw themselves into every activity as a team. We are looking forward to hearing what our next challenge will be in the new school year.
