Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed their introduction to the Maya this week by designing their own masks. Masks were incredibly important to the Maya civilisation as they were worn for a variety of reasons, including during celebrations, battles and after death. The children were inspired by photographs of masks which have been uncovered by archaeologists, particularly those which showed very intricate and colourful designs. Watch this space to see their designs coming to life in DT lessons over the next few weeks!
