Speed Down, Save Lives!
This week is Road Safety Week, and today, Mrs Hall conducted an interactive whole school assembly. We discussed how the speed of a car links directly to its breaking distance – did you know that a car travelling at 30mph has a breaking distance of 23m? The faster the car is travelling, the harder it will hit and the more damage it will do. We also talked about ensuring that we have safe places to cross busy roads and how lucky we are to have a School Crossing Patrol at drop off and collection times on Broom Lane. At the end of the assembly, Mrs Hall launched our Road Safety Campaign and challenged the children to design a Road Safety poster. A template has been sent home with your child this afternoon and winning designs will be transferred to perspex and displayed around the local community encouraging drivers to think about their speed and parking.
